Separate traffic stops for violations Friday and Saturday nights landed two Daviess County men in jail on drug charges.
Friday night, Trooper Mitch Wier was patrolling County Road 100 West in Daviess County when he observed a passenger in a 2004 Volkswagon throw a cigarette from the vehicle. During the traffic stop, Wier and Daviess County Deputy Aaron Harbstreit found 18 year old Luis D. Lugo of Washington to have 21 individually packaged baggies of marijuana in his backpack, as well as additional marijuana in his pockets. Logo was taken into custody for Dealing Marijuana, and lodged in the Daviess County Jail.
On Saturday, Trooper Wier was patrolling County Road 550 North in Daviess County when he observed an eastbound vehicle driving left of center, nearly crashing into Wier’s patrol car. Wier stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, 24 year old Justin Miller of Washington. During the stop, Wier learned that Miller was driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages, having a breath alcohol content of 0.101%. Wier additionally found that Miller had a bag of marijuana in his vehicle. Miller was placed into custody on OWI and possession charges and was lodged in the Daviess County Jail.
