Kentucky State Police are going to be extra vigilant when it comes to distracted drivers. Last year there were over 52,000 crashes caused by distracted driving - 163 of those were fatal. Troopers say distracted driving includes being on your phone, eating, changing the radio, or anything that causes reckless driving.
As Kentucky's general tax revenues came up $91 million short, Gov. Steve Beshear was able to balance the budget by raiding small state funds that get their money from fees or taxes paid for a particular purpose.
Madisonville police are stepping up patrols and asking for the community's help to find the people responsible for recent vandalism. Police told media partner 14News that rocks have been thrown through the windows of buildings, homes and vehicles.
Community Campus has received a total of $90,000 in grants to support Engineering and Life Science Academies. Students from five area high schools (Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic and Hancock County) participate in Community Campus. A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to restrict traffic to one lane along KY 3143/Fairview Drive in DAVIESS County starting Thursday, July 24, 2014. The lane restriction at KY 3143/Fairview Drive mile point 1.407 is to allow deck overlay work on the Natcher Parkway Overpass.
