Library To Present Forum Thursday


The Daviess County Public Library will be hosting a forum Thursday in cooperation with the Wendell Foster Center campus. "Spread the Word to End the R Word: Understanding Developmental Disabilities" is set for 6pm, and is now in its sixth year.

Chamber's Connections Expo Next Week


If you have a small business and want to grow, the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Connections Expo may be the answer. Along with some 50 exhibitors the Chamber will offer professional development seminars at its annual business expo scheduled for 10am to 6pm next Thursday at the RiverPark Center.

Impact 100 Reveals Grant Amounts


A local organization dedicated to donating grant money to community causes has revealed the amount of money that will be awarded this year. Impact 100 is made up of at least 100 women in the area who volunteer their time and resources to help local non-profit groups. According to Events Committee Chair Suzanne Miles, Thursday's reveal reception number was 237.

McLean Co. School Board Office to Move


The McLean County Board of Education has begun seeking bids for renovating property that will eventually be the district's new central office. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, the board agreed last year to purchase the R & W Development and Logistics property on KY 136 East for $745,000.

KY Unemployment Rates Drop in 2014


Annual unemployment rates fell in all 120 Kentucky counties in 2014. State economist Manoj Shanker says this is the first time since 1990 that all the counties have had a drop in the unemployment rate. The annual jobless rate for Woodford County was the lowest in 2014 at 4.5 percent. It was followed by Fayette and Oldham counties, 4.8 percent each.
