KY General Assembly Session Ends


The 2014 general assembly ended Tuesday night with a mixed bag of results. In the session's closing moments, House members were unable to pass a Senate bill that would have cracked down harder on heroin dealers and better cared for addicts.

City Commission Gets a Look At Budget


The Owensboro City Commission met in a special work session Tuesday to go over the proposed budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, city employees will receive a 1.5 percent pay increase starting in July.

Beshear Announces $1M Airport Grant


The Owensboro-Daviess County Airport has been awarded $1 million in federal money for improvements. The Airport Board got the good news Wednesday from Governor Steve Beshear. The airport plans to relocate a beacon to improve visibility. They also plan to finish the final phase of terminal building improvements.

McLean County To Have "Major Announcement" Next Week


Federal and state officials will be in Calhoun next week for a major announcement concerning McLean County's regional water consolidation project. Representatives of McLean County Fiscal Court, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the Kentucky Department for Local Government will hold a news conference at 11am Tuesday at the Calhoun Water Treatment Plant on High Street.

Wilkerson's Jersey To Be Retired


The Apollo High School baseball program will retire Jersey number 12, worn by former Eagle baseball player Brad Wilkerson, during a 6pm ceremony Friday at Eagle Park. Wilkerson played baseball at Apollo from 1991 to 1995.

Green River CCC Offering Workshops


The Green River Community Collaborations for Children regional network is sponsoring a free one-day training for parents: “Creating Rubber Band Families.” This event will be held Tuesday, April 29, at the H.L. Neblett Community Center.

Alliance Giving Away Trees


The Dogwood Azalea Neighborhood Alliance will purchase six dogwoods and six azaleas to give to residents that live in the Dogwood Azalea Neighborhood to plant the weekend of May 17.

Lewisport Man Arrested on Drug Charges


A Hancock County man was arrested late Sunday night on drug charges. According to Kentucky State Police, they along with Hancock County deputies responded to a tip at a home on Oak Road. Troopers say they found items used to make methamphetamine, meth precursors, prescription pills, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges Saturday


Acting on a tip, the Kentucky State Police and the Owensboro Police Department responded to 1403 West 12th Street in Owensboro, Kentucky to execute a felony arrest warrant on Joshua Cavender. Upon arrival, Officers received consent to search of the residence and apprehended Cavender who was hiding in the basement of the residence with Jeremy Harrington.

Kiwanis Auction, Walk of Honor Set


The Kiwanis Club of Owensboro is finalizing plans for its annual auction, coming up Saturday, April 26 from noon to 3pm at Towne Square Mall. Many items will be up for bid, donated from companies, organizations and individuals.

Police Looking Into Equipment Thefts


A traffic equipment theft in Hopkins County has the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and police looking for answers. The Kentucky State Police reports that the KTC contacted them Friday about the two temporary traffic signals they had installed on KY 281 near Jewel City, where road work was being done.

Three Injured in Morning Wreck


The investigation is continuing of an accident that happened Monday morning in Daviess County. Police told media partner 14News that just after 8am, a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling north on U.S. In Utica and for unknown reasons left the road and hit a tree.

Man Charged After Parking Lot Altercation


An Owensboro man is in jail after police say he fired a gun at a woman Sunday at a local restaurant. According to the Owensboro Police Department, they responded to a disturbance call in the 1800 block of Carter Road. The investigation revealed that 23-year-old Isaiah Frazier was involved in an argument with a female, Katrina Shelton, while in the parking lot of the restaurant. Police say the

Man Arrested After Chase


An Owensboro man landed in jail after police say he fled from them on his motorcycle Friday night. The Daviess County Sheriff's Department says 23-year-old Steven Tyler Stanley didn't know a deputy was behind him on New Hartford Road when he popped a wheelie.

McLean County Shooting Suspect Sought


A McLean County man is in the hospital after being shot early Saturday morning, and police are still looking for a suspect. According to the sheriff's department, around 12:30am, 44-year-old Jamie Timmons was shot in the head through a window in his home on KY 254.

Hancock Deputy Resigns Before Cleared of Wrongdoing


Just five days before being cleared of wrongdoing by a grand jury, Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy Ken Eubanks resigned from the department effective March 31. Kentucky State Police was handling the investigation of the incident in which Eubanks shot and killed Harold Powers, who had driven to the deputy's house with firearms.

Ohio County Woman Sentenced in Drug, Child Endangerment Case


A 21-year-old Fordsville woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday in the case from last June when her daughter ingested sulfuric acid that was being used to manufacture methamphetamine.
