On Tuesday, August 25, the Owensboro Police Department was contacted by local media. A Facebook post was brought to our attention concerning a juvenile who was photographed with a contusion to his forehead; the posted message claimed that the juvenile was injured during contact with an Owensboro Police Officer. Owensboro Police Department records indicate that on Monday, August 24 at approximately 10:00 a.m., four juveniles fled from authorities on foot in the area of E. 18th Street and Daviess Street. Owensboro Police Department officers apprehended all four juveniles a short time later. The Owensboro Police Department Professional Standards Unit has opened an investigation into the actions of Owensboro Police officers during this incident to determine whether proper policies and procedures were followed.
