An Owensboro man was arrested Monday after a deputy spotted meth-making materials in his home. According to the Sheriff’s Department report, Deputy Troy Calvert was serving a warrant on Thomas Benningfield of Webster Lane Monday morning. When entering the back room where Benningfield was located and arrested on the warrants, Calvert says he saw what appeared to be a meth pipe on the dresser, plus a camo backpack on the bed, which was partially open and revealing tubing and jars consistent with the making of methamphetamine. Upon searching, several other meth-making items and chemicals were located. After being read his rights, Benningfield signed a statement saying the bag and items belonged to him. He was arrested on the additional meth manufacturing charges.
