As their boss went to jail for contempt of court Thursday, five deputy clerks from Rowan County said they would go ahead and issue marriage licenses to same=sex couples on Friday. Many of the couples turned away by Clerk Kim Davis agreed they did not want her to face jail time, but Judge David Bunning said any fine he would have issued would have likely been paid by supporters. Before being taken away by officers, Davis told the judge that God’s moral law conflicted with her job duties.
