Burns Middle School will honor the memory of Robert “Bob” Berry, who served as the school’s first principal from 1972 to 1990, with a ceremony at 5pm Thursday, October 8, in front of the school, located at 4610 Goetz Drive. Berry passed away Nov. 14, 2013, but is still remembered for his legacy of service as an educator and principal. He began his career as a teacher at Utica High School in 1949 and retired as principal of BMS in 1990. Friends, former colleagues, students and their parents are invited to attend and share remembrances of Mr. Berry during the service, which will feature performances by the BMS student choir, band and orchestra. A highlight of the program will be the planting of an October Glory Maple tree.
