Monday marks the opening of the annual Evansville West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, the only TriState street festival larger than Owensboro’s BBQ Festival, and quite possibly the mecca of battered, deep-fried food items. Around 200,000 people are expected to crowd Franklin Street over this next week. Music, carnival rides, talent competitions and over 126 food booths including examples of Evansville’s signature dish, the deep-fried pork brain sandwich.
