Ron Poole R.Ph., of Central City, received the Kentucky Pharmacists Association (KPHA) Bowl of Hygeia Award at the 138 th KPHA Convention Banquet on Saturday, June 4 at the Marriott Downtown in Louisville, KY. In his speech, Ron credited the many people who have been a positive influence on his life and credited his wife, Lisa as deserving one-half of this award due to her love and support as well as her involvement in their community. Ron was nominated by Pharmacist, Leon Claywell of Bardstown, KY and Ron’s Wife, Lisa. Ron and Lisa are the owners of Poole’s Pharmacy Care in Owensboro at the Springs Health Centre, Poole’s PharmacyCare in Central City, Poole’s Pharmacy Care in Livermore, and Poole’s Pharmacy Care in Greenville, KY.
Established in 1958, the Bowl of Hygeia Award recognizes pharmacists who possess outstanding records of civic leadership in their communities and pharmacists who take active roles in their communities. The award is presented annually by participating state pharmacy associations, including those in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In addition to service through their local, state, and national pharmacy associations, award recipients devote their time, talent, and resources to a wide variety of causes and community service. The Bowl of Hygeia is the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession and considered one of the profession’s most prestigious awards.
