The Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition is hosting an annual LifeSavers Walk on Saturday to remember those who have died and help find solace for survivors. It’s the ninth LifeSavers Walk in Owensboro. It will take place at the HealthPark. The purpose is to raise awareness of suicide and offer prevention as a solution. Coalition President Mike Flaherty says suicide is a leading cause of death in Kentucky, and one of the most preventable through intervention and counseling. According to Flaherty, most suicide victims don’t want to die; they want to end the pain. Identifying depression and other mental health problems early can lead to treatment that will save lives.
