An employee of a trash collection service was killed Thursday morning as the result of a collision on U.S. 431. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, a Dumpster Dan truck driven by 51-year-old Antonio Romero-Sanchez of Whitesville was stopped in the southbound lane around 5:52am while another worker collected trash from a residence. An Aramark truck driven by 56-year-old Benny Whitehead of Owensboro came up over the hill, and swerved to try to avoid a crash. But he ended up striking the truck and the other employee. The other Dumpster Dan employee was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released. Low visibility due to rain and darkness are thought to be a contributor to the accident. Neither truck driver was injured.
