A call to Owensboro Police over what was thought to be gunfire ended with the arrest of several juveniles. According to OPD, Thursday at approximately 5:30am, officers responded to the 3800 block of South Griffith Avenue. The initial investigation into this incident led officers to four juveniles who had been throwing fireworks from a vehicle. Officers then determined that the vehicle the juveniles were occupying was reported stolen. At approximately the same time, a separate call related to a vehicle blocking the roadway in the 700 block of Turtle Creek Drive was also determined to be stolen, as well as a third vehicle located near the juveniles. Two handguns were also recovered; one of the handguns had been reported stolen. At the time of this release, these four juveniles have been charged in connection to three vehicle thefts, one home burglary that occurred in the 4600 block of Harbor Hills Trace this date, and other charges unrelated to these calls.
