Two people are now reported to be injured as a result of an explosion Wednesday at a Murray State University residence hall. Although it has not been confirmed, officials are investigating a possible gas leak causing the blast. According to Paducah television station WPSD, University Advancement Vice President Adrienne King says there were two confirmed injuries. A school employee was transported from the scene to Murray Calloway County Hospital by emergency workers. KSP trooper Jody Cash says the Murray State employee who was hurt is 26-year-old Dakota Fields. The blast happened around 5pm. The investigation continues.
