A shooting incident Thursday morning reulted in the arrests of two people. Originally, deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department were told that 18-year-old Audra Payne and her boyfriend got into a vehicle around 4am when someone opened a rear door and shot Payne in the hip with a rifle. She was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Later, the witness changed his story, saying it was a backseat passenger who fired the shot, and provided their names. A motorist reported two men walking toward Owensboro and called Dispatch. The men then tried to flee. Deputies found them and had to subdue 20-year-old Jacob Simpson with a taser. He was found carrying a loaded handgun. The other man, 18-year-old Chance Foreman, was arrested after a foot pursuit. A .50 caliber muzzle loader was found along the path the men took to flee the police. It was identified as the gun fired at Payne. The men were interviewed, and admitted that they had been stealing from cars in the area, including two guns. Simpson and Foreman were taken to the Daviess County Detention Center.
