Wednesday night (12/27/2017): Air Temperature (10°F) plus wind speed (10mph) equates to -3°F Wind Chill
Thursday night (12/28/2017): Air Temperature (18°F) plus wind speed (3mph) equates to 13°F Wind Chill
Friday night (12/29/2017): Air Temperature (17°F) plus wind speed (7mph) equates to 7°F Wind Chill
Saturday night (12/30/2017): Air Temperature (8°F) plus wind speed (10mph) equates to -6°F Wind Chill
Sunday night (12/31/2017): Air Temperature (9°F) plus wind speed (9mph) equates to -4°F Wind Chill
Monday night (1/1/2018): Air Temperature (8°F) plus wind speed (7mph) equates to -3°F Wind Chill
8:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.: Due to frigid daytime temperatures, Daytime shelter will be available at Daniel Pitino Shelter (501 Walnut St., Owensboro, KY) [phone: (270) 688-9000]
7:00 P.M. through 8:00 A.M.: Nighttime shelter available at St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter (1001 W. 7th St., Owensboro, KY) [phone: (270)-541-1003]
White Flag Warming Shelter Information:
Provided: Bedding/linens, shower/toiletries, and a warm place to spend the evening (men, women, children, families)
POC: Harry Pedigo (St. Benedicts Homeless Shelter Manager)
Meals: Provided at Daniel Pitino Shelter
o Breakfast: 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M.
o Lunch: 11:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
o Dinner: 5:30 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.
Transportation: By foot or city bus. If arrangements need to be made for accessibility issues, Daniel Pitino Shelter will contact GRITS, which may need a 2-hr advance notice.
Those seeking nighttime shelter are not required to go to Daniel Pitino Shelter, but rather, if desired, can self-transport to St. Benedicts Homeless Shelter any time during the nighttime White Flag operating hours.
