The two Marshall County High School students killed in yesterday’s shooting have been named. In a news conference last night, Kentucky State Police said Bailey Nicole Holt and Preston Ryan Cope, both 15, were the two students who died after a 15-year-old boy entered the school at 7:57am armed with a gun and started shooting. Twelve others were injured by gunfire while five suffered other injuries. They were taken to various hospitals, including some being flown to Vanderbilt in Nashville, where victim Ryan Cope died. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody. Police say he will be charged with murder and attempted murder. Governor Matt Bevin rushed to the scene after the incident, and led a noon news conference, giving the first details of the horrible shooting. KSP Commissioner Rick Sanders said the school had just completed active shooter training, and students and staff did exactly as they were trained. KSP continues to investigate.
