The Kentucky 2A Championships® Board of Directors met Wednesday at Elizabethtown High School and began developing the strategic plans to host a statewide 2A Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball State Tournament for the 2018-2019 school year.
The inaugural Kentucky 2A Championships® State Basketball Tournament will be conducted January 17th – 20th, 2019.
The Board is currently investigating venue options, scholarship sponsors, sponsorships and promotions, publishing, trophies and awards, and ticket sales logistics for the inaugural Kentucky 2A Championships® State Basketball Tournament.
There has been a buzz of excitement surrounding the formation of an invitational tournament to provide an additional opportunity for those schools that have a student population in excess of the All A Classic enrollment parameters up to 1000 students. It is the Board’s goal to continue to inform all interested parties of the ongoing developments with the inaugural 2A state tournament.
The Kentucky 2A Championships, a statewide organization for mid-sized schools, scheduled its inaugural boys and girls state championship tournament for Jan. 17-20, 2019.

The invitational tournament would be open to schools that have an enrollment in excess of the All A Classic enrollment parameters up to 1,000 students. Union County and Webster County are two of the four schools from the Second Region that would qualify to compete in the 2A event. Hopkins County Central and Trigg County are the others.
