First-time claims for unemployment benefits are up slightly. The Labor Department reports this morning that 211-thousand Americans filed initial jobless claims last week, up two-thousand from the previous week. The experts were expecting that number to come in at right around 224-thousand.
The steepest increases in claims were in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Nevada. The biggest declines were in New York, California, New Jersey, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
