Gamblers in New Jersey will soon be able to bet on the action at Churchill Downs. Managers at the race track in Louisville yesterday announced an agreement to be a part of New Jersey’s sports betting offerings. New Jersey led the case to the Supreme Court that ended a nearly 30-year-old ban on sports betting, and lawmakers there hope to be ready to start taking bets in a few weeks. Churchill Downs CEO Bill Carstanjen said in a statement yesterday that he sees legal sports betting in the states as a unique opportunity.
