Mitch McConnell is now a part of U.S. Senate history. Kentucky’s senior U.S. Senator yesterday became the longest serving Republican leader in the nation’s history. He passed Kansas’ Bob Dole who held the record previously. McConnell has been Senate Republican boss for 11 years, five months, ten days, and counting. McConnell was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1984.
