Kentucky‘s senior U.S. senator says local schools and local law enforcement have to take the lead on school safety. Senator Mitch McConnell yesterday told a crowd in Danville that there isn’t much the federal government can do to stop school shootings, outside of sending money to schools and police departments. McConnell called this year’s school shootings a “shame” and said that every school superintendent in the country is now looking to make their schools more safe.
