Owensboro, Ky. (September 27, 2018) – The H.L. Neblett Community Center and Hager Preschool will host an open house on Thursday, September 27 from 5-6 p.m. to celebrate the addition of a Hager Preschool classroom at the community center.
For many years, some students who attended Hager Preschool for half-day preschool would spend the afternoon at the Neblett Center for childcare and this new classroom will allow both programs to continue their relationship.
“The Neblett Center has always been a great supporter of Hager Preschool,” said Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Nick Brake. “We are thankful to be able to provide this opportunity to students and allow them to have that continuity of learning in a familiar place as school is beginning for them.”
The open house will allow parents a chance to see the new classroom, meet with principal Sherry Baber, and the staff who support this collaboration.
“Space is limited at Hager Preschool,” said Sherry Baber, principal at Hager Preschool. “By adding this additional classroom at the Neblett site, we have the opportunity to serve more children within our community.”
The new classroom at the Neblett Center will be KERA funded. Owensboro Public Schools will provide a teacher and transportation for the students. The Neblett Center will be responsible for providing a teacher’s assistant. Classes begin on Monday, October 1.
“Partnerships are essential for helping students achieve their maximum potential,” said Olga McKissic, executive director of the Neblett Center. “The Neblett Community Center is proud to be a part of the educational component with Owensboro Public Schools to make that happen.”
