The Kentucky Education Association and others are urging caution before the state requires high school students to pass a competency test to graduate. The state Board of Education meets Wednesday to discuss whether to implement the requirement. Officials initially said it would got into effect in fall 2019. The department is revising its proposal and officials say the first class that would have to take the exit exam would enter high school in the fall of 2020.
