OWENSBORO, KENTUCKY – Wendell Foster, a local non-profit agency serving people with disabilities, will be hosting the art show “Respect: Recent Adoration Artwork by Rex Robinson” at the Elmer Administration Building at Wendell Foster. The art show will feature heirloom paintings and sculpture by the artist.
The art can be viewed Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm beginning Monday, December 3 through Friday, January 11. The grand public opening is Sunday, December 2 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be provided. Selected works will be auctioned at 3:00pm. The grand opening is free and the public is invited.
In conjunction with the art show is the “Highland Respect Mural” created by the Highland Elementary third grade class. The Highland Respect Mural, featuring 90 personal interpretations of “RESPECT Starts Now” will be installed and unveiled on Friday, November 30.
“The RESPECT Exhibit is a combination of three forces that have aligned with Wendell Foster’s RESPECT Starts NOW campaign. As an Artist-In-Residence at Highland Elementary, I challenged and assisted each 3rd grader to render a personal interpretation of what Respect means to them in a collective 90 student exhibit and have a part in the RESPECT Starts NOW Mural. My art exhibit is an example of how a professional defines respect for a concept to encourage students and viewers to use art to learn, love and value themselves and gain self-respect, trust and appreciate others and life itself! The entire art project displayed hopefully reveals the beauty and grace of creative reflection of life,” explains Rex Robinson.
Rex is a nationally known American artist with over forty years of professional educational and workshop experience who has received numerous regional, national, and international honors. Notable among awards is 1st and 2nd Place in the MidAmerica Biennial and “Visual Artist” for the International Bluegrass Music Museum. All art work will be for sale, with a portion of sales benefiting Wendell Foster. To emphasize encouragement of seasonal gift giving, immediate possession or delivery is available upon payment.
“Wendell Foster is very excited about the opportunity to work with Rex Robinson, an esteemed and acclaimed local artist, as well as have the opportunity to help educate our younger generation on the meaning and intent of our Respect campaign. I am looking forward to this great venture!” says Eric Scharf, CEO at Wendell Foster.
