The District Long Term Care Ombudsman Program invites individuals and organizations in the GRADD area to contribute to the 2018 Silver Bells project.
Each year, Sheila Howard, District Long Term Care Ombudsman, and other GRADD staff work to spread the word and collect items to fill gift bags for delivery to one or two personal care homes in the region at Christmas time.
Suggested items for the bags include:
- soft drinks
- chips
- chap stick
- tissues
- drink packets for bottled water
- hot chocolate
- socks
- raisins
- peanut butter snack crackers
- cheese snack crackers
- snack cakes
- gloves
Ms. Howard stated, “The gift of what most consider everyday items brings smiles of joy and
gratitude to the residents receiving them.”
Donations can be brought to the GRADD office during regular business hours, with a collection cutoff of December 7. Monetary donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase items to complete the bags, as well as to buy fresh fruit for the bags.
