The Daviess County Grand Jury returned an indictment yesterday against David Turley Sr., the man who shot an Owensboro Police Department officer on Hathaway Street as the officer was responding to a call on October 10th. Turley was indicted for first degree assault. According to the Kentucky State Police, who investigated the shooting, the incident began when OPD Officer Zach Morris responded to the neighborhood to a call of a suspicious person possibly breaking into vehicles. Morris was struck in the abdomen through his ballistic vest and required surgery. Morris has yet to return to work.
