My new show sponsor, Nimco, Inc., is such a great organization. Yes, they specialize in a range of customizable products that can be imprinted with your slogan or logo artwork. They offer these great products with a positive twist. Their products are developed with positive messages to support and encourage drug prevention campaigns in our schools.
They’re a big supporter of Random Acts of Kindness Week, which is THIS week!
As Random Acts of Kindness Week continues, I’m reminded how far a simple gesture goes for someone who’s having a bad day. An act of kindness doesn’t always mean it has to cost you money. The “cost” is simply the time it takes to show someone you care.
Each Thursday, I host a segment with my friends at Volunteer Owensboro called “We Believe In Owensboro.” The name comes from the call letters of WBIO. That simple phrase has and will always translate to non-profit organizations and volunteering to me. If you think about it, volunteering is a form of an act of kindness.
Helping a non-profit organization that helps others is one of the greatest gifts you can provide your community.
Some of happiest people I know are volunteers. I heard that said once and I believe it to be true.
If you’re not sure whom to help, think about organizations that mean something to you. Or think about certain things in your life that has left an impact on your emotions. An example for me personally would be the Walk To End Alzheimer’s Organization. You see, I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer’s. He battled that terrible disease for almost a decade.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. It’s also an organization that raises awareness for caregivers of those with the disease. I think about my mother who had to help take care of my grandfather for several years. He didn’t know he had a problem, but those closest to him had to endure so much. That’s why each year I walk in the Owensboro Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Last year, I emceed the event with my friend and co-worker, Jordan Roos.
The moral of today’s “Random Act of Kindness Week” blog is volunteering. Do something for an organization that helps others. Whether it’s a church, a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, the American Red Cross, or the American Cancer Society. Helping a non-profit is the greatest gift of all. God bless you.
