Kentucky State Police Post 4 troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision in Hardinsburg Monday afternoon. On July 12, 2021, at approximately 1:13 P.M. CDT, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Hardinsburg Police Department requesting assistance in investigating a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Old Highway 60 and U.S. 60 in Hardinsburg.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Daniella Zuelly, age 48 of Tell City, operating a 2021 Ford Edge passenger car, entered the U.S. 60 intersection from Tractor Supply and into the path of a tractor-trailer traveling southbound. The commercial vehicle was being operated by Philip Wertz, age 62 of Zephyrhills, FL. Zuelly was transported by Air Ambulance to the University of Louisville where she later died from her injuries.
The affected portion of U.S. 60 was closed for several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. The Hardinsburg Police Department, Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, Breckinridge County EMS, Hardinsburg and Harned Fire Departments assisted KSP Post 4 at the scene. The collision is still under investigation by reconstructionist Trooper Tyler Lynch.
