After making the announcement earlier this year that he will not seek re-election, Daviess County Sheriff Keith Cain announced yesterday that he will be retiring this year. Sheriff Cain’s final day as Sheriff will be December 1st. Daviess County Judge Executive Al Mattingly appointed Major Barry Smith who will assume the responsibilities as Daviess County Sheriff. Sheriff Cain has been the Sheriff for Daviess County for 24 years.
